Cornwall Central High School seniors Andrew Cummiskey and Christian Moyik have been named as National Merit Semifinalists, Principal Kathryn Wilhelm announced last week. Over 1.2 million juniors in about 20,000 high schools entered the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2025 PSAT. Out of the 1.2 million, she said, there are only 16,000 semifinalists.

In addition, Rocco Cordisco, Matthew Schlosser and Fiona Dong were named as Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Approximately 34,000 students nationwide received that distinction after taking the same PSAT.

“This distinguished recognition is a wonderful accomplishment and reflects these scholars’ strong academic performance, dedication and exceptional potential,” Wilhelm said. “Congratulations, we are so proud of your hard work and dedication to your studies.”
