The Cornwall Central School District Music Department has announced that six Cornwall Central High School students will travel to the New York State School Music Association’s (NYSSMA) All State Conference in Rochester in December.
“Thousands of students auditioned for this honor last spring at solo festivals throughout the state and these students were selected and will be representing CCSD,” CCSD K-12 Music Department Chair Tony Ravinsky said at the October 5 Board of Education meeting. “They all received perfect or near perfect scores on their NYSSMA solos last spring which recommended them for these ensembles. This is not an easy accomplishment and we are proud of all of them for being state musicians.”
The students are:
Christian Moyik will be the only jazz drummer for the 2026 All State Jazz Ensemble. Over the past two years he received two 100’s on his NYSSMA Solos. “Amazing,” Ravinsky said.
Macie Stermer and Cash McLendon will be representing us in the 2026 All State Treble Choir and Mixed Chorus.
Signy Johnson and Yani Daskalis both received alternates for their perspective groups after both receiving two perfect scores on their solos last spring. “This is unheard of,” Ravinsky said.
Hudson Alarcon has been an All-State alternate for the past two years from his near perfect NYSSMA solo scores.
“This is one of the largest group of musicians we have had the honor to recognize as All State Musicians in the past 20 years,” Ravinsky said. “ Typically we are excited to have one student honored. All of these students have gone above and beyond anything Mr. Hoover, Mr. Franca or myself have asked, and they all worked hard to prepare these solos last spring as they continue to be student leaders in our ensembles. Most importantly many of these students are looking to pursue music in college and some hope to perform for a living.”
