Grace Baptist Church of Highland Falls hosted its 26th annual Public Safety Sunday on September 20.
“The service recognizes and honors the first responders in our communities,” Pastor Andrew Snavely said. “Honored guests included officers from the Fort Montgomery Fire Department, Town of Highlands Police Department, Town of Highlands Ambulance Corps, and the Town of Highlands and Village of Highland Falls.”
The service featured a declaration from Supervisor Bob Livsey, as well as a sermon from Pastor Steve Snavely, former chaplain of the Fort Montgomery Fire Department, and former pastor of Grace Baptist Church.
Pastor Snavely shared that it was a special honor for him and his wife Debbie to come “home” for the service at the church where he had ministered as pastor from 2000 through 2024. He then shared a message urging everyone present to be prepared for every emergency, including what happens to each person following death.
In opening comments, Pastor Snavely reassured the honorees that the church prays for them and all elected officials on a weekly basis. The service concluded with a special luncheon.
