The Village of Highland Falls celebrated its 120th birthday last weekend – from Friday, Oct. 2 through Sunday, Oct. 4 there was a family festival at Roe Park featuring bands, food trucks, activities and more. But, the highlight was likely a Main St. parade, traveling the historic stretch of road from West Point’s Thayer Gate to the park. It featured firetrucks and village work vehicles, local officials, bedecked floats, O’Neill High School athletic teams and a JROTC color guard, a contingent from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, West Point cadets, and a color guard and marching unit from the Highland Falls Fire Department. Many community resident turned out to watch the event, with local children happy to collect candy and other treats being tossed by marchers.
