Support the repowering of Danskammer

Let’s all get together and accomplish a positive development in our area - the repowering of the Danskammer Power Plant in Roseton. Let me give you the reasons I believe we should unanimously support this project.

1. A smaller less efficient plant already exists on the property. This new plant will be more efficient to operate, will generate less pollution in the air, and discharge much cooler water into the Hudson River than the existing plant.

2. The natural gas infrastructure supply to the power plant already exists so there will be no inconvenience to the neighbors during construction.

3. Let’s talk about the economic benefits: - $50 million dollars in revenue over a 20-year period. - The plant’s $5 million-dollar annual payroll. - The plant’s $12 million-dollar yearly expenditures on non-energy costs. - The cost of construction of the project at $400 million, using local labor, employing between 300 – 400 jobs during construction, and employing a work force of 30 – 40 permanent well-paid fulltime positions once operational.

4. The benefits of taxes paid to the Town of Newburgh and the Marlboro School District should be substantially higher than what the plant pays now. Taking the above items into account, the new Danskammer Power Plant should be supported by those that live in the Town of Newburgh, along with the Marlboro School District, and all residents in the surrounding area. Please help make this become a reality. Thank you,
