Reta L. Bakas of Walden, NY passed away peacefully at home on October 16, 2026. She was 81. Reta was born on January 23, 1945 in Walden to the late Charles D. and Hattie VanWagenen Sutherland. She was married to Konstantinos "Gus" Bakas. Reta was a bus driver and monitor for First Student in Wallkill, NY. She loved her grandchildren most of all. She loved trips to Wal-Mart and enjoyed going out to eat with her devoted husband Gus. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by husband Gus Bakas at home; grandchildren, Angelo and Ayla Ronk; daughter-in-law, Ieda Ronk.
Reta was predeceased by her son Frederick Charles Ronk; brother, Edwin Sutherland; sister, Lola Nedwetzky and his parents.
Cremation and services will be private.
