Mary Elizabeth Sanner of Rock Tavern, passed away on October 2, 2026 at Garnet Health Medical Center. She was 80 years old. Mary was born on December 12, 1945 in Newburgh, NY to the late Frederick W. Lange and Mary A. McGorty. She was a school bus driver for many years. Early in her career, Mary was also a dental assistant.
Mary was a devout Catholic and was very strong in her faith her whole life. She enjoyed growing up on a farm, and was a part of the farming community in Orange County. She enjoyed going antiquing and finding treasures at estate and garage sales. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her son William Sanner (Sandra) of Rock Tavern; daughter, Mary A. Detwiler (David) of Lone Tree, Colorado; sisters, Katherine Roche of Newburgh and Pauline Moran (Jim) of Montgomery; grandchildren, Jillian Sanner, William James Sanner, Leighton Detwiler and Peter Detwiler; several nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Frederick and Francis Lange; first husband William C. Sanner Jr. and second husband Raymond A. Anderson.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research.
Visitation will be held on Thursday October 8, 2026 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, Inc. 39 Orchard Street Walden, NY 12586.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday October 9, 2026 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick's Church 55 Grand Street Newburgh, NY 12550.
