Dragons down Beacon; 7-2 on the season

Posted

With two goals from Aaron Schulman and one each from Carlo Vallegjo, Billy Alva and George Enslen, the Cornwall Dragon boys’ varsity soccer team made (fairly) quick work of the Beacon Bulldogs at a Saturday morning game at CCHS.

Registering assists in the game were Alva, Vallejo, Ryan Mauer (two) and Saba Khelashvili.

It wasn’t until about 25 minutes into the game when Schulman (#23) scored for Cornwall, followed by another quick goal from Billy Alva #12 and and then another by Schulman, one of the team’s eight seniors. Schulman has had 10 goals and nine assists on the season.

The Dragon defense was strong, never giving Bulldog players many opportunities to score. Goalie Lucas Santiago only needed to put his hands on the ball twice in the first half.

Also last week the boys beat Warwick 3-0 on September 29 and Goshen 1-0 on September 25, but fell to Newburgh Free Academy 2-0 on October 1. This week they were schedule to play Washingtonville (4 p.m. on October 7) and Our Lady of Lourdes (10 a.m. on October 10) at home.

The Dragons were 7-2 on the season after Saturday’s win.
