I write today to respectfully ask the voters in Shawangunk to vote for Adrienne Gelfand-Perine for County Legislature.  If you know Adrienne, you know that she is a bundle of positive energy who has been hip-deep in the town’s civic affairs for many years.  She is very involved in the library, the Women’s Club, the Vision of Wallkill, and many other efforts aimed at making the town a better place to live and work.

Adrienne has, in this campaign, likely knocked on your door to listen to your concerns.  Over the years, she has worked tirelessly across many Wallkill civic institutions for the town’s betterment.  She has built civic organizations from the ground up with the Vision of Wallkill and the Wallkill Dems.  Adrienne is well-known and deeply respected across the political spectrum and in the upper levels of Ulster County government.  She has forcefully articulated a positive vision for the future of Wallkill (see her website, gelfandperineforucleg.com).  You do know what Adrienne is about, because she’s told you, likely in person.

It is disappointing that her opposition seems to be relying almost exclusively on the tired old Republican fear tactic of “No New Taxes.”  Adrienne knows the “Big Beautiful Bill” passed by Trump and giving obscene tax cuts to the rich will impose devastating gaps in food, housing, and healthcare for untold thousands of Ulster County residents and will be addressed locally, somehow.  An uninformed slogan, “No New County Taxes” is putting one’s head in the sand and diverting attention from the unbearably harsh Republican policies at the national level.  Better to ask the rich to pay a little more than raise property taxes for everyone.

If you want someone representing Wallkill who confronts problems head-on, shares your values, and who has looked you in the eye and explained her positive vision for the town, vote for Adrienne Gelfand-Perine.
