By Marcy Noble, Town of Newburgh
How do you feel about the 56 Flock cameras on Town of Newburgh streets that track and record your every move? You can vote them out of Newburgh by voting for the Democratic candidates in the Town of Newburgh elections.
A Republican town council decided to pay $175,000 per year of our tax payer money for the cameras. This money is going to an $8 and a half billion dollar AI data tech company that is violating your 4th amendment rights. The town council continues to do this, even after residents have informed them that Flock is exposing tax payers to liability in multiple ways. Residents have told the council members about mistakes by Flock AI leading to false arrest and injuries to innocent people, about abuse of the cameras by police officers, about Flock security weaknesses, and about the violation of the 4th amendment. The members of the Town of Newburgh Council could end their contract with flock tomorrow. They choose not to.
Republican council members Manley and LoBiondo are running to become Town Supervisor and Town Justice. They’ve proven they don’t listen to Town of Newburgh residents. Many Town of Newburgh residents have come before the council to say they don’t want Flock in our town. A more secure and less expensive option for tax payers, would be license plate reading cameras owned by the town, with data stored on encrypted SD cards only accessed by a warrant, yet the Republican council continues to choose Flock. We need leaders with better judgment.
Stephen Krasner, the Democratic candidate running for Supervisor in the Town of Newburgh, opposes having Flock cameras in our town. If elected, Krasner will listen and respond to residents. He plans to hold open meetings, in addition to the council meetings, where residents can exchange ideas with town leadership. But if residents prefer to email or call with their concerns, Stephen is happy to respond to those communications as well. He feels residents should not have to attend a council meeting and stand at a microphone in order to voice concerns.
Vote for better judgment and less Flock! Vote early or November 3rd -
Stephen Krasner for Town Supervisor
Jen Knox for Town Clerk
Kenyon Trachte for Town Justice
