Wallkill volleyball sweeps Marlboro
Wallkill defeated visiting Marlboro in three sets, 25-16, 25-17 and 25-18, in Mid-Hudson Athletic League action.
Bella Martinez led the Panthers with three kills, 13 assists and 11 digs. Ava O’Flaherty added nine kills, three digs and three aces, while Olivia Vlaovich had seven kills and five digs. Hailey Degroat contributed three assists, seven digs and two aces, and Olivia Robles had 12 assists and two aces.
Wallkill improved to 5-1 in MHAL play and 6-2 overall.

Wallkill tennis sweeps Onteora on Senior Night

Wallkill High’s girls tennis team celebrated Senior Night with a 5-0 Mid-Hudson Athletic League victory over visiting Onteora on Oct. 1.
Wallkill seniors Brianna Reyes-Romero, Taylor Dawes, Mikki Carson and Maddie Hennessey were honored before the match.
Dawes won her singles match, while Carson and Hennessey teamed up for a doubles victory. Audrey Meyer also won in singles. The doubles teams of Gabby Morales and Julia Price, and Hailey Pushman and Julia Dauriac completed the Panthers’ sweep.
Wallkill improved to 6-2.


Wallkill football wins third straight
Wallkill defeated FDR 21-7 on Oct. 2 to win its third consecutive game and improve to 3-2.
Quarterback Alex Mikesh threw three touchdown passes, including two to RJ Meyer and one to Ayden Larue.
DJ Moore, Owen Miller and Anthony Daley led the Panthers defensively with a slew of tackles.
Wallkill will host Washingtonville at 6 p.m. Friday.

Valley Central football tops Kingston
Valley Central defeated Kingston 20-7 on Oct. 2, using three Kingston turnovers to score 20 unanswered points and improve to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in Class AA league play.
Kingston took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter Daniel Joyce’s 30-plus-yard field goal cut the deficit to 7-3 late in the first quarter.
Valley Central took the lead before halftime when quarterback Andrew Waite threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Triston Wright.
In the third quarter when Valley Central defensive back Elijah Strother returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown, giving the Vikings a 17-7 lead. Joyce added a 38-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

Valley Central will face Middletown next.

Middletown defeats Pine Bush
Middletown defeated Pine Bush 28-13 on Oct. 2, leaving the Bushmen at 1-4 overall and 0-1 in league play.
Ruben Simpson rushed for 145.3 yards for Pine Bush, while quarterback Connor Amiel passed for 164 yards.
Pine Bush has lost five of its last six games dating to last season. The Bushmen will host Newburgh Free Academy at 6 p.m. Friday.
