On September 28, at approximately 11:29 p.m., New York State Police responded to the Super 8 Motel on Montgomery Road in the town of Montgomery for a report of a disturbance involving a 36-year-old male.

Upon arrival, Troopers responded to a motel room where they encountered the male in an agitated state. The male was taken into custody and initially remained conscious. Due to his condition, emergency medical services were requested.

The male subsequently became unresponsive and was transported by ambulance to Garnet Health Medical Center for treatment.

While at Garnet Health Medical Center, the male went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced deceased at approximately 4:19 a.m. on September 29, 2026.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Major Crimes Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The New York State Attorney General’s Office has also been notified.

The investigation remains ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
