The Plattekill Town Board held their first regular meeting of the year on Jan. 21. Several important event dates throughout the year were established at the meeting.

The board announced that they are hosting a “Coffee with a Cop” event on Feb. 9. This event will encourage residents to come and chat with local law enforcement. The Fourth of July fireworks celebration is scheduled for July 11, with a rain date on July 12. The annual Plattekill Day celebration is slated for Sept. 19, with a rain date on Sept. 20. The Rotary E-Waste Day, where residents can dispose of electronic waste safely, was scheduled for April 11 during the meeting.

The board also discussed a request from the Modena Ladies Auxiliary club to use the town park for a yard sale and event later this year. The board approved the request.

Other business conducted at the meeting was the approval for purchases for the Plattekill Police Department. The department requested a new printer, two ATVs and a trailer to attach to one of the vehicles to be purchased with money acquired from the drug seizure fund. The purchases were approved by the board.

In regards to the ongoing discussion of EMS being declared an essential service in Plattekill, an Executive Workshop meeting with representatives from Clintondale, Modena and Plattekill, along with the board members was scheduled for Feb. 4 to discuss an action plan for creating an EMS district in Plattekill. It will be the same day as the month’s first Town Board meeting.
