Maybrook man charged with kidnapping, assault

State Police arrested a Maybrook man June 4 following an investigation into a domestic incident on Prospect Avenue in the Village of Maybrook.

According to police, Jerry Carrasquillo, 46, was charged with second-degree kidnapping, a Class B felony; three counts of first-degree criminal contempt, Class E felonies; two counts of aggravated criminal contempt, Class D felonies; and third-degree assault, a Class A misdemeanor.

Investigators said Carrasquillo unlawfully restrained a 47-year-old woman and held her against her will inside the residence. Troopers responding to the scene safely removed the victim and took Carrasquillo into custody without incident.

Following processing at State Police Montgomery, Carrasquillo was arraigned in Town of Newburgh Court and remanded to the Orange County Jail. Bail on the kidnapping charge was set at $50,000 cash, a $50,000 partially secured bond or a $200,000 secured bond. On the assault charge, bail was set at $25,000 cash, a $25,000 partially secured bond or a $100,000 secured bond.

Carrasquillo was scheduled to return to Town of Newburgh Court on June 9 at 5:30 p.m.
