A Maybrook man was arrested Oct. 4 following a reported domestic dispute in which police said a woman was struck with a dumbbell and choked.

Village of Maybrook police responded about 9:45 a.m. to 819 Tower Ave. and found that Frederick Douglas Parks allegedly struck the woman in the head with a dumbbell, causing an injury. Police also said he struck and choked her multiple times.

Parks was charged with second-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree harassment.

He was arraigned by CAP Judge Hosking and released on his own recognizance. New York State Police and the Town of Montgomery Ambulance Corps assisted Maybrook police.
