The project known as “Kush Factory Cannabis Retail Dispensary” returned before the Town of Newburgh Planning Board on Thursday, December 19. The action taken that night by the board was to refer the project to the Orange County Department of Planning for review.

Melzina Canigan-Izzard, owner of the property and business, returned before the planning board Thursday with renderings of proposed signage for the business which include a proposed mixture of cream and burgundy colors with the name Newburgh Kush Factory. The former Pier 1 Imports store along New York State Route 300 is seeking conversion into a new cannabis dispensary.

MHE Engineering notes in its technical memo that adjoiners’ notices for the project had been sent out and once comments had been received from the Orange County Department of Planning, a required public hearing would need to be held. This is required due to the special use permit.
