Highland Falls’ Joe Murphy has worked for the Village of Highland Falls Department of Public Works since June 1, 1973 – at 53 years, he is the longest serving employee of the municipality. Because of that, he’s been honored by having his name added to Havens Rd., the street which leads to the village’s DPW garage. Murphy was at last week’s Village Board meeting to collect his street sign (there was some chatter about him having to hang it himself!) along with DPW’s David Hurst, who was honored for his 38 years with the village.
