Communities set to celebrate National Night Out

The Newburgh and New Windsor area, along with other communities across the country, will be participating in the annual celebration of National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5. Each of the municipalities announced their annual celebrations with activities for all of the community to enjoy.

National Night Out is annually held on the first Tuesday of August and is an event that promotes police and community partnerships across the country, bringing together people in safe and fun environments where they can interact with each other and enjoy activities. The event was first introduced in August of 1984 and has continued over 40 years.

Town of New Windsor
New Windsor will be celebrating its 4th Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kristi Babcock Memorial Park located at 660 Mount Airy Road. Residents and town visitors alike will enjoy a night of community and police unity.

The Town of New Windsor Police Department welcomes residents and families to the park to join them and other local first responders for a night of food, bouncy houses, first responder field games, K-9 demonstrations and emergency vehicles on display. Local service agencies anticipated to attend are the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the New York State Trooper’s Office, New Windsor EMS, the New Windsor Fire Department and the Vails Gate Fire Department. Local community organizations and vendors also plan to be present for the annual celebration.

Senator James Skoufis is sponsoring the event this year and for more information, please contact New Windsor Recreation at 845-565-7750. The police department can be followed on their social media pages as well: @NewWindsorNY on Facebook and @NWPDNY on Instagram.

Town of Newburgh
The Town of Newburgh will be hosting their National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 5 starting at 6 p.m. and going until 9 p.m., again located at Cronomer Park along Powder Mill Road. The annual celebration was regularly held at Chadwick Lake Park but moved to Cronomer Park due to construction of the new recreation center, which is nearing completion.

The town’s National Night Out is a free community event for all residents and visitors. The event will offer food and drinks, highlight local vendors and emergency service organizations and vehicles and provide games, raffles and other activities for residents. In previous years, families enjoyed K-9 demonstrations, browsed gear and trucks and spent time with friends and neighbors.

City of Newburgh

City of Newburgh officials and the City of Newburgh Police Department invite the community to join in the National Night Out celebration on August 5 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The celebration will take place on Broadway, between Johnston Street & Liberty Street. The night will provide free food, resources for residents and games for children and families, while highlighting local vendors. Officers and other members of the police department will also be out interacting and engaging with members of the community.
