The Cornwall Town Board will hold its required public hearing on the preliminary 2027 budget at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, at Town Hall.

The total appropriations in the preliminary spending plan is $19,667,163 ($18,296,910 without the fire districts). There are revenues of $3,898,350 expected, and an unexpended fund balance of $1,387,000 will be put toward the budget. That leaves $14,381,813 to be raised by taxes.

Fire districts account for $1,370,253 of the budget. The general fund spending is $5,271,335, and the general fund spending for outside the village is $4,264,140. Townwide highway spending is $495,530 and highway outside the village spending is $3,636,250.

The salaries of elected officials are included in the legal notices for the public hearing. Supervisor Josh Wojehowski’s salary is set for $86,283; each of the town councilmembers receives $15,967; the town clerk receives $74,689; the receiver of taxes receives $23,443; and the two town justices each receive $42,451.

The town’s adopted 2026 budget was $18,628,531 ($17,267,353 without the fire districts).

While the numbers have been tweaked some since the tentative budget was first adopted in September, at that point it was predicted that the projected property tax increase for a home with a market value of $550,000 (assessed at $300,000) would be $17 per month.

Wojehowski said he does not expect the Town Board to adopt the budget the night of the hearing, but will likely adopt it at the Tuesday, Nov. 10 work session/special meeting.
