A Child’s Wish Foundation will host its second annual “A Night of Hope & Celebration” gala and silent auction Oct. 3 at Magnanini Winery in Wallkill.
The event, scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m., will raise money to grant wishes to children facing life-threatening and life-altering illnesses and provide support and hope to their families.
Last year’s inaugural gala raised more than $135,000, helping the foundation grant wishes to children and their families. Organizers said several new wishes will be announced and granted during this year’s event.
The evening will include a live performance by Grammy Award-winning polka musician Jimmy Sturr, a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, a complimentary glass of wine and stories highlighting the foundation’s work.
"When we started A Child’s Wish Foundation, our dream was simple — to give children and their families hope during some of the most difficult moments of their lives,” Brian Amthor, chairperson of A Child’s Wish Foundation, said in a statement.
Amthor said the support generated by last year’s gala allowed the foundation to make wishes come true and encouraged the community to continue supporting its mission.
“Every ticket purchased, every sponsorship, every silent auction bid, and every donation helps create memories that these children and their families will cherish forever,” he said.
The foundation was established by Alice and Arnold “Butch” Amthor to grant wishes to children confronting serious illnesses. It relies on donations from individuals, businesses, sponsors, volunteers and community partners.
Tickets are $175 per person. Corporate and individual sponsorship opportunities also are available.
The gala will be held at Magnanini Winery, 172 Strawbidge Road, Wallkill.
