By Jonathan Jacobson, Member of New York State Assembly, District 104
I wish to thank the Southern Ulster Times for your recent editorial about my securing funding for the Highland Hose Fire Company and the Plattekill Library. (“Heartfelt Thanks for Investing in Community Safety and Well-Being” August 1, 2024). State grants to relatively small entities such as a volunteer fire department or a library are the most efficient use of taxpayers’ dollars because there is little or no bureaucracy. The money will be spent efficiently while the State grant will save local taxpayers additional taxes. While small in size, these entities provide a huge service to the community.
When I first ran for the Assembly, I pledged that I would not forget the smaller towns in my district. I have worked hard to do this. I have not forgotten about the towns in southern Ulster County which I represent – Marlborough, Lloyd and Plattekill.
Over the years, I have also provided funding for the Town of Marlborough Senior Center, Town of Lloyd Pavilion, and the Marlboro, Milton and Highland libraries.
It has been my honor to represent all of the residents in the 104th District, and I look forward to continuing to bring effective representation to the entire district.
