SUNY New Paltz Spring 2026 Concert Series

Posted

The Department of Music at SUNY New Paltz is excited to present its spring 2026 Concert Series, featuring a dynamic slate of genre-spanning performances by students, faculty, and distinguished visiting artists.

In addition to jazz, classical, pop and vocal performances by New Paltz students and faculty, the department is thrilled to offer concerts by visiting artists representing an eclectic range of musical styles.

While concerts primarily take place at Studley Theatre, this semester also includes shows in Shepard Recital Hall, as well as a performance by the Chamber Singers at the Mount Academy chapel in Esopus, New York.

Sky Islands is the 2025 Pulitzer Prize-winning piece in music composed by Susie Ibarra, written for an ensemble that features faculty pianist Alex Peh, flutist Claire Chase, percussionist Levy Lorenzo and the Bergamot String Quartet. This work about ecosystems and biodiversity challenges the notion of the compositional voice by interweaving the profound musicianship and improvisational skills of a soloist as a creative tool.
