Town of Highlands historian Ronnie Coffey presented a talk on the Battle of Fort Montgomery at the annual conference of the Association of Public Historians of the State of New York in Utica in late September. The conference draws more than 100 government-appointed historians and affiliates from across the state each year and Coffey was one of several invited speakers. At the conclusion, she invited all her fellow history-lovers to visit Highland Falls and Fort Montgomery in the coming year – the Historical Society is on the second floor of Village Hall in Highland Falls.
