Orange County’s 2026 household hazardous waste and Safe Scripts collection event is happening Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Highland Falls. Old chemicals, cleaners, paint, pesticides, and unwanted medications can be turned in, all at no cost to residents. It will be held rain or shine.

The event will take place at Municipal Lot #2 (378 Main Street via Webb Lane). Residents will need to show a valid ID showing county residency. No registration is required for the Saturday event for residents; however, only household quantities will be accepted. There is no paper shredding at this event. (There is also a collection event for pre-registered school districts, farms, municipalities and businesses in the same location on Friday, Oct. 23.)
