Jacobowitz to receive 2027 Ottaway Medal

Marcia A. Jacobowitz, an attorney and longtime community leader, has been selected to receive the 2027 Ottaway Medal, Vision Hudson Valley’s highest honor.

Jacobowitz will be honored at the organization’s 32nd annual Ottaway Medal Award Dinner on May 13, 2027.

A lifelong resident of northern Orange County, Jacobowitz has built a legal career focused on real estate, land use and equine law while serving in leadership roles with numerous nonprofit, civic and community organizations.

She founded the Wallkill Valley Health Coalition Inc., which helped establish the Wallkill Valley Health Center. She continues to serve as the center’s board president.

Jacobowitz also has served as vice chair of the Sun River Health board for more than 20 years.

Her other community involvement has included the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, Community Foundation, Orange County Water Authority, SUNY Orange Foundation, Walden Community Council and Hudson Valley SPCA.

Jacobowitz served for more than 15 years as a board member and chair of the Orange County Water Authority.

Her legal career also has earned professional recognition, including an AV Preeminent rating, a peer-reviewed designation reflecting a high level of professional regard in the legal community.

The Ottaway Medal honors the legacy of James and Ruth Ottaway and recognizes individuals for leadership, vision and contributions to the Hudson Valley.

Vision Hudson Valley, founded in 1971, is a membership-based, nongovernmental organization focused on public policy and advocacy involving land use, transportation, water conservation, waste management, cultural affairs, education, agriculture, recreation and health care.

The organization is based at the Seligmann Center on 50 acres in Sugar Loaf, formerly the home of Surrealist artist Kurt Seligmann.
