Newburgh Free Academy continued its strong run of form with three decisive victories, capping off a dominant week with an 82-58 win over White Plains on Saturday.

The Goldbacks (6-5) have won four of their last five games, riding a high-powered offense that has averaged 62.8 points per contest during that stretch. Their latest victory over White Plains marked their second straight win against the Tigers and followed a 69-52 triumph over Pine Bush on Thursday.

Against Pine Bush, Newburgh benefited from a balanced scoring attack led by Jahsir Davis with 15 points. Sincere Hayes added 14, knocking down four three-pointers, while Legend Jones and Jean Pagan contributed 10 and nine points, respectively. The win pushed Newburgh to 5-5 on the season and extended its home win streak to three games.

Earlier in the week, the Goldbacks cruised past Middletown with a 73-53 win on Tuesday, bouncing back from a weekend loss. Their higher ranking in MaxPreps’ New York basketball standings (No. 263) made the result an expected one against No. 575 Middletown.

Newburgh was scheduled to visit New Paltz on Sunday and will face Poughkeepsie on Friday before returning home Saturday to take on Spring Valley. They will then travel to Middletown on Monday for a rematch.
