Posted

Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus and Emergency Services Commissioner Peter J. Cirigliano are advising residents that the Wallkill and Neversink Rivers and Moodna Creek could crest overnight, leading to localized flooding on Tuesday morning.

Heavy rains, high winds and thunderstorms hit Orange County Sunday night into Monday morning causing some flooding and closures throughout the region. According to the National Weather Service, this region received up to 4.69 inches of rain.

“The County’s Emergency Operation Center remains activated and our staff continues to monitor the status of river gauges with our partner agencies,” Neuhaus said. “Many local area rivers are anticipated to have minor to moderate flooding and we are working with local governmental officials and emergency responders to evaluate conditions.”
