Wallkill’s Caitlin Murphy leads local runners

Caitlin Murphy won the Mid Hudson Athletic League individual championship, leading the Wallkill girls’ cross-country team to a second-place finish at the MHAL championships on Thursday at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome.

The Panthers scored 54 points. Mount Academy won the event with 50 points.

Andie Psilopoulos finished ninth, and Emma Haughian took 10th. Emma DiLemme finished 17th, and Maria Morales was 24th. Katrina Brand was 45th. Giada Post was 98th, and Mikayla D’Amico was 111th.

Nathaniel Diemoz was 11th to lead the boys’ team to a fifth-place finish with 133 points. Pine Plains won the team championship with 26 points.

Mario Verruto was 12th, and Ryder Kilpatrick was 26th. Josh Craypo was 40th and Luke Fragetta was 48th. JoAeo Santos was 90th. Finnian Reiter was 103rd.

Shaylen Goslar finished fourth, leading the Pine Bush girls’ team to a third-place finish at the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association championships on Saturday at Sanfordville Elementary School in Warwick.

Cornwall won the team championship with 38 points. Pine Bush had 133. The Valley Central Vikings finished 13th with 350 points.

Julianne Gabrielle was sixth, and Hannah Pawlowski finished 21st. Lillian Gabrielle was 42nd, and Ava Dymond took 62nd. Caitlin Palmer and Alexa DiVito were 63rd and 83rd, respectively.

Laura Griffin led the Vikings with a 59th-place finish. Catherine Primavera and Isabella Cruz were 70th and 71st, respectively. Leah Restivo was 82nd, and Samantha Norman took 85th. Maeve Eagan finished 92nd, and Kelsey Burke was 105th.

Caleb Sahlstrom led the Valley Central boys’ team to a 10th-place finish with 255 points. The Bushmen were 13th with 347 points. Monroe-Woodbury won the team championship with 28 points.

Vance Palmer was 29th, and Ashton Ewald was 62nd. Jack Dudzik was 74th, and Colin Kinsley was 92nd. Erich Lachman and James Quinn were 94th and 112th, respectively.

Raul Rosario was Pine Bush’s top finisher with a 51st-place finish and Roscoe Sudol was 59th. Jack Murphy, Daniel Sassi and Michael Thompson placed 85th, 86th and 88th, respectively. Thyler Vanderkooy was 108th, and Peter Argo was 130th.
