Wallace K. Palen, 92, of Morris, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta, NY. 

Wallace was born on June 16, 1928 in Wallkill, NY to the late Frank B. and Sadie M. (Trowbridge) Palen. On April 2, 1950 he married Helen M. Morehouse in Wallkill.

Wallace was known for his hard work ethic. He was employed most of his entire life at the Goddefroy Car Company in Wallkill; having held almost every position until retiring in 1995 as Supervisor. Upon retirement, he decided to go back to work for 9 more years at Gilbertsville- Mt. Upton School as a Bus Driver. Wallace was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gilbertsville, and the Butternut Valley Grange.

Wallace is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Helen M. Palen; children, Donna Clark (Louis Mastronardi); Tyler Hill, PA, Alan D. (Bonnie) Palen; Montgomery, NY, Laure J. Palen; Saugerties, NY, Amy P. (Edward) O’Hearn; Center Harbor, NH, Leslie Keaton Palen; Morris, NY; grandchildren; Jennie C. (Glenn) Kildare, Danielle P. (Forbes) Riva, Kerri (Bill) Mendrcycki, Tami (Chris) Rhinehart, Ali Bachowski (Alex), Geri Dedi, Emma O’Hearn , Lauren O’Hearn and 15 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins. Wallace is predeceased by his son, Douglas George Palen; brothers, James P. and Frank O. Palen and sisters Ana P. Vogel, Inez P. Greichwich and Geraldine M. Scanlon.

His memorial service at Brookside Cemetery, Gilbertsville will be held privately and at the convenience of his family.
