Walden UMC to present a spring yard sale

On April 14, 2024, the Marion Wild Service Unit 215 hosted their annual Cupcake Wars at John H. Howland Youth Center, Walden. The theme this year was to make their cupcake look like different kinds of food and the Girl Scouts did not disappoint.

The troops worked hard creating cupcakes that looked like burgers, spaghetti, Dunkin, Franks Pizza and more.

The troops were judged for their taste, appearance, display and creativity. Judges were Khadija Hashimi, Sandy Magill, Bea Palmer, John Revella.

Bob Sandbothe, family and friends send special belated birthday greetings to Diane Sandbothe who celebrated her birthday on April 25, 2024. She is wished all of life’s best.

Stephanie Collins sends word that the Walden United Methodist Church Yard Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, May 3 and Saturday May 4 at the Walden United Methodist Church, 1206 Route 52 West, Walden.

In addition to yard sale items, there will be clothing and a bake sale. For additional information call Stephanie at 914-805-4497. In the event of rain, it will be held on the following Friday and Saturday.

Please join the Historical Society of Walden and Wallkill Valley at the Wallkill Valley Cemetery to learn a safe way to clean gravestones on May 4, at 10 a.m. (rain date May 11 at 10 a.m). Bring a bucket, clean nylon brush and a gallon of water.

The cost is $10 per person to offset the cost of cleaning solutions. Pre-registration is required, call Lisa at 845-527-0639.

MPB School, 180 Ulster Avenue, Walden will hold a Spring Bingo and Tricky Tray event on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Doors open at 5 p.m. Bingo starts at 6 p.m.

Tricky tray raffles available for purchase at the event. Admission - $20 in advance, $30 at the door.

Includes nine Bingo games and door prizes. To purchase tickets or reserve a table, contact Randi-Lee Penney at 845-863-4112 or email MPBParentGuild@gmail.com.

The Walden Community Council will meet on May 15 with Sweeter than Sweet Cupcakes at 6:30 p.m. and will continue with plans for Walden’s 37th Annual Harvest Festival on September 28.

The Josephine-Louise Public Library has added three new museum memberships to our Museum Pass Program - Hudson River Maritime Museum of Kingston, the NYS Empire Pass, and the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. For more information, please stop by the library or call (845)778-7621.

Sommelier JoAnn DeGaglia will join us on Wednesday, May 8, 6:30 p.m. for a fun evening of “This Wine is From Where?” Registration is a must. This program is for 21 years and older.

The Kids Art Club for ages 7 and up is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, 4:30 p.m.

Spring Toddler Story Time and Baby Rhyme Time sessions have begun. Information can be found on our website or by calling the library’s Children’s desk.

The library’s “Rail Trail Bird Walk” with Bill Fiero is scheduled for Saturday, May 11, 8:30 a.m. Meet at the library for carpooling and be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
