Walden adopts short-term rentals law

Posted

The Village of Walden board, after 2 years of discussion, passed a law for short-term rentals during its January 16 meeting.

This law is meant to ensure that local property owners conduct their rentals safely and orderly while causing minimal disturbance to other residents.

As stated within the law, residents who wish to rent out their properties must apply for a rental permit from the village’s building department from June 1 to June 30 within a given year. To be eligible for a permit, the applicant needs to submit information about themselves and their property, arrange an appointment with the village’s building inspector to examine their property, and pay a fee.

The full law can be found on the village’s website or in the municipal building.
