Virgen Manuela Figueroa, aka Virginia, Socorro, Pupa, Vicky most importantly Mom, of Montgomery, formerly of Brooklyn NY, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021, in Newburgh.  She was 76.

Virginia was born December 1, 1944 in Cayey Puerto Rico and adopted by the Martinez, Mendoza, Quinones family of Cayey- a lovely caring family that gave her a lavish life during her childhood. They loved and cared for her as their very own while living in Puerto Rico until she came to New York at 17 years old to live the rest of her life. She eventually became a Brooklyn native New Yorker. 

She married Salvador Martinez, had five children and that was the beginning of her own family legacy. She became the monarch and trunk of her very own family that would branch off to grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an amazing, housewife, mother, grandma, great grandma, aunt, sister-in-law, friend, neighbor, mother-in-law and sister and daughter to her adopted family. 

She loved to sew, dance, act, music, cook and was very good at it. She was a part of a dance/acting group that traveled around the boroughs of New York to various adult centers and Veteran's center and brought joy and light to many lives. She created her own costumes and loved to decorate her home with butterflies and elephants. Most importantly she was a woman of God, who always carried faith and strong belief in Jesus Christ her Savior. She now wears her crown that awaited her in heaven. 

Virginia, Virgen, Socorro, Pupa, Vicky, Mom, you will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Into the arms of your Heavenly Father you have been embraced till your loved ones embrace you again. 

Survivors include her sons, Salvador Martinez Jr. and Mildred, Angel Rafael Martinez and Luis A. Martinez, daughter  Adelaida J. Martinez; daughter-in-law Juanita Martinez, widow of David Martinez, 10 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren She was predeceased by her son David Martinez and Great Granddaughter Genisis

Visitation will be Saturday, September 18, 2021, from 1-3pm at Goodwill Church, 2135 Route 208, Montgomery. A service will immediately follow at 3 pm. Cremation will take place privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Goodwill Church, 2135 Route 208, Montgomery NY 12549.
