Special congratulations to two Valley Central School Seniors who were awarded scholarships for their essays on patriotism. Julia Rose Wilson and Brennan Paul Donachie wrote the winning essays for the “God Bless America” scholarship awarded to them on June 8 at VCHS Awards Night. The scholarship was established by local citizens in memory of Dominic Winum, a police officer who was shot and killed while on duty.

Julia and Brennan read their essays at the Flag Day Ceremony held at Walden Veterans Memorial Park on June 12. Their words of pride and love for America were outstanding and warmed the hearts of those attending the event. Julia plans on attending SUNY New Paltz and will study Art education as well as Performing Arts. Her dream is to become an Art Teacher. Brennan will be attending Maxwell School of Citizenship at Syracuse University while pursuing a degree in International Relations. Brennan seeks to contribute to the good of this nation and world by working along side diplomats and other political leaders to follow the dreams and convictions God placed on his heart.
