Thanksgiving Interfaith service planned for Sunday

Thank you to the Walden Fire Department members who respond and render outstanding service to our Community.

Catholic Conversations will meet on November 17 at 7 p.m. in the Father Sullivan Hall downstairs from M. P. B. Church. The meeting is a week earlier than usual because of Thanksgiving Day. “Evangelization—When and How” will be discussed.

The Walden Humane Society, 2489 Albany Post Road, Walden will hold their next indoor yard sale on Thursday, November 17 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

All purchases benefit the care of the animals at the shelter. Please also bring a donation of food, litter, old towels, bleach and cleaning supplies. Need information? Call the shelter at 845-778-7115.

Just checked the birthday calendar and saw it’s time to wish Walden Chief of Police William Herlihy and my wonderful neighbor Anthony Muccari. Happy Birthday on November 19. Thank you both for all your good work.

The Walden Historical Society invites you to their next meeting at the Jacob T. Walden House, 34 North Montgomery Street, Walden on Wednesday, November 16 at 7 p.m. Noted author, A. J. Schenkman will discuss his latest book “Unexpected Bravery”, Women and Children of the Civil War. Not to be missed.

Rob Casper sends word that the Walden Baptist Church will hold a benefit Soup and Salad fundraiser for Operation Dalmatian on Friday, November 18 at 6 p.m. at the Church Hall. A variety of soups will be available for $8 per person. Please also bring a new toy to contribute to the toy drive.

The Walden Rotary Club will hold their 5th Annual Adopt a Coat event on Saturday, November 19, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. (rain date November 20). at Hunter Insurance Services, 70 Oak Street, Walden. Free winter coats, hats and gloves as well as free bagged groceries on site.

Bring your Holiday Cheer to Coleman Corners on Saturday, November 19 (the weekend before Thanksgiving) 12 - 4 p.m. The Fox Hill community will have coffee, cookies and Christmas music, as well as beautiful crafts and baked goods on display in their big tent. You will find perfect hand-crafted Christmas gifts for relatives and friends. Proceeds from this sale will benefit local food pantries for the season. Cash and checks only.

All are welcome to attend the Walden Interfaith Clergy Group Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, November 20, 3 p.m. at Tsechen Kunchab Ling Temple, 12 Edmunds Lane, Walden.

Services will be led by local clergy from Walden United Methodist Church, Fox Hill Community, Congregation Beth Hillel, Tsechen Kunchab Ling, First Reformed Church, and other local faith communities.

Walden’s Community Council will hold a Home Decorating Contest that includes all Walden Homes. Judging will be December 18 from 6 - 9 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place based on creativity,arrangement, special effects and overall appearance. Walden Community Council is also asking all businesses in Walden to decorate their business storefronts for their “Make Walden A Hallmark Movie” contest! There will be one prize for the best decorated business over all. Business storefront must be decorated by December 4. Judging will be on December 21. The Library Board of Trustees will meet on Monday, November 21, 5 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
The Library’s Book Club will meet on Monday, November 28, 6:30 p.m. for The Actress by Fiona Davis. This historical fiction revolves around two women and a now famous building in the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
