The Walden Community Council thanks the Walden Savings Bank for hosting their June 8 meeting. President and CEO, Derrick R. Wynkoop was present to review some highlights of the bank’s 150th Anniversary and to review details of Brenda Adam’s award as Walden Savings Bank Community Champion. A great time was had by all. After a two year hiatus, due to the Pandemic, Fr. Amuldass Antony, a Capuchin Priest from India, has returned to Most Precious Blood Parish in Walden. Every year since 2016. Father Antony has been making return visits.

Please give him a warm welcome. He has been serving in Udhayam Polytechnic Casey Centre. Thalir in Villupuram District, Tamil Nadu, India. He is involved in a number of charitable activities in his Centre with Fr. Nithiya Sagayam through online seminars and direct involvement with the people by conducting motivation seminars.

In a special way, Fr. Antony and Fr. Nithiya are doing charitable activities by distributing groceries and clothes to the abandoned poor, widows, sick, elders, primitive tribes, gypsies and physically challenged poor and to people in need. They recently began distributing food pockets to the abandoned poor in bus stands and in railway stations twice a week. If you would like to be a part of this charitable work, please contact Fr. B. until July 4, 2022 and then move to Staten Island and return to India at the end of August 2022.

Walden Rotary Club members send Happy Birthday wishes to Dr. Stefan Bojsiuk on June 21 and to Peter Sullivan on June 21 and thank them for all they do for this great organization. May you both enjoy your special day!

Another special person celebrating in June is Village Trustee, Brian Sebring. Family and friends look forward to a special celebration on June 20. Happy Birthday Brian!

The Walden Community Council continues to accept orders for bricks to be placed at Walden Veterans Memorial Park. Orders received by July 15, will be placed in the Park for dedication at the Veterans Day Ceremony in November, 2022.

The Walden Humane Society, 2489 Albany Post Road, Walden will hold their next indoor yard sale on Thursday, June 16, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Stop in and check out the many great items to choose from. National Award winning Professional Freelance Photographer, Bruce Bergman,will be guest speaker on “Sunrise to Sunset, A Trip to Lake Mohonk”. Bruce worked for NYSDOT as Regional Photographer and had use of the NYS Police Aviation Unit’s helicopter to take aerial photos of projects all over the Hudson Valley. His photos have won numerous awards. The program is on Mohonk Mountain House, Mohonk Preserve and Minnewaska State Park.

Catholic Conversations will meet on Thursday, June 30, 7:00 p.m. Summer meetings will be held in Father Sullivan Hall, downstairs from M.P. B. Church. Please join the group for conversation centered around living our Catholic faith. For more information call Larry and Jean Winum at 845-778-1602.

Most Precious Blood Knights of Columbus will host their 11th Annual Walden Classic Car Show on Saturday, July 9 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. in Walden’s Village Square Rain date July 16.

The event is held to raise funds to support local charitable giving as well as increase pedestrian foot traffic and commerce in the community. 100 classic and custom cars from the 1920’s to the present are targeted for registration. Car owners will receive a complimentary tee shirt with sponsor’s names printed on the back. This will be an admissions free event for the community and will feature food, raffles and DJ entertainment. The Council is looking for sponsorship to offset the cost of the event.

Josephine-Louise Public Library sends the following news:

It’s time to dust off those lawn chairs and break out the picnic baskets! The Music in The Grove 2022 Season will begin on Monday 27, 7 p.m. with the Pine Bush Community Band! Midnight Slim and Laurie will perform on Wednesday, June 29, 6:30 till dusk. This year we are happy to announce that Hank’s Franks Food Truck will be on site. In the event of rain, concerts will be canceled and moved to a date in September.

To read or Not to Read; that is never the question! The Summer Reading Programs ``Oceans of Possibilities” registration will begin Tuesday, June 21. We have planned activities for all ages - babies, pre-school, elementary school age, teens 12 and adults! The Programs will begin the first week of July. Pick up an informational flyer on your next visit to the library.

The library will be closed on Monday, June 20, in observance of Juneteenth.
