Wallkill’s Andie Psilopoulos 20th in Nordic skiing

Wallkill’s Andie Psilopoulos finished 20th in the girls’ 7.5K race at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships on Feb. 26, leading Section 9 to a fifth-place finish at Mt. VanHoevenberg.

Section 9 finished with 225 points. Section 5 won the championship with 38 points. Section 9 was fifth in the boys’ race with 254 points, and Section 7 won the championship with 34 points.

Psilopoulos finished in 26:10.3. Katrina Brand was 46th with a time of 34:02.6. Adirondack’s Cora Hinsdill won the race with a time of 21:36.7.

Wallkill’s Graham Driskill finished the boys’ race 7.5K race with a time of 35:42.6. Queensbury’s Ben Jenkin won the race with a time of 18:53.3.

Psilopoulos and Brand teamed with New Paltz’ Rory Gerber to finish 14th in the 3x2.5K relay in 34:44 on Feb. 27. Section 8’s Sutherland won the race in 27:02.6.

Driskill teamed with Monticello’s Giovanni Gutierrez and Yousef Elsayed finished 16th in the boys’ 3x2.5K relay with a time of 41:50. Section 2’s Queensbury won the race in 22:47.4.

PB relay teams crack the top ten

The Pine Bush Bushmen placed two relay teams in the top 10 at Saturday’s New York State swimming championships at the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium at Ithaca College.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team was sixth with a time of Jack Vuksanovich, Bryce Sloley, Dominic Licardi and Tomek Oakes finished seventh with a time of 1:26.85, while the 200-yard medley relay team of Liam Blackwell, Licardi, Sloley and Oakes finished ninth in 1:37.16.

The 200-yard medley relay team was sixth in 1:36.87 and seventh in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:27.26.

Sloley finished 10th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.66 seconds.

Sloley finished in a three-way tie for ninth place during preliminaries in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.31 seconds and won a three-way swimoff in 51.36 to earn his place in the championship heat.

Oakes finished 13th in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:54.93, about a half-second faster than his preliminary time on Friday. He was 17th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.29 seconds, three spot downs from his 14th place finish in 47.01 on Friday.

Kaeden Fisher finished ninth in Friday’s diving event with an 11-dive score of 419.80.

Sloley finished 30th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.34 seconds, two seconds below and three places down from his preliminary time of 21.81 seconds on Friday.

Jack Vuksanovich was 35th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.72 seconds and Liam Blackwell was 39th in the 100-yard breaststroke in 55.07 seconds.

PB earns two second-place finishes at states

The Pine Bush Bushmen had two second-place finishes at Saturday’s New York State Federation indoor track and field meet at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility in Staten Island.

Madison Williams was second in the girls’ long jump, reaching 18-7.75, and Ella Galloway was second in the girls’ pole vault, reaching 13 feet.
Williams was 11th in the girls’ triple jump with a season-best jump of 36-6.

Shaylen Goslar posted a pair of season-best times when she finished sixth in the girls’ 1,000-meter run in 2:51.84 and ninth in the girls’ 1,500-meter run in 4:39.27.

Plexico Brooks was 14th in the boys’ high jump, reaching 6-2, and Nicholas Burgess was 18th in the boys’ 300-meter dash in 35.37 seconds.

Valley Central’s 800-meter girls’ relay team was 13th with a time of 1:46.37, and Catherine Primavera was 20th in the girls’ 300-meter dash in 41.56 seconds.

Wallkill’s boys’ 800-meter relay team finished 17th with a time of 1:33.68, while Caitlin Murphy was 23rd in the girls’ 3,000-meter run in 10:15.91, and 24th in the girls’ 1,500-meter run in 4:53.21.
