The Pine Bush Bushmen were the only local football team to make the playoffs this season.

They earned the fourth seed in the Section 9 Class AA playoffs by posting wins over the Valley Central Vikings and the Kingston Tigers before their season ended at the hands of the Section 9 Class AA champion Middletown Middies.

Still, the Bushmen were rewarded with three players being named to the Section 9 Class AA all-star team by the Section 9 Coaches Association: Manny Hannon, Plexico Brooks and Logan Hawley. Greg Florin and Jake Slovitsky earned all-league honors.

The Valley Central Vikings, meanwhile, fell a victory over the Bushmen short of making the playoffs themselves. Lineman Aiden White was the only Viking to earn Class AA honors. Ryan Calfe and running back Julian Montrevil also earned all-league honors.

Middletown won the sectional championship with a win over the Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks on November 11 and swept the top honors: Julani Graham was Back of the Year, Stephan Monchery was Lineman of the Year and Tim Strenfel was named Coach of the Year.

Quarterback Chris Bartolone was the only Wallkill player named to the Section 9 Class A team. Wide receiver Aiden Kozireski also earned all-league honors.

Washingtonville’s Sean Davis and Cornwall’s Tyler Vanderpool shared Back of the Year honors, while the Section 9 champion Dragons’ Anthony Tucci, Jr. earned Lineman of the Year honors and coach Kevin Arduino was named Coach of the Year.
