It’s so good to see all the school buses again!  I want to wish the students a very happy, healthy and AWESOME school year!

Maybrook Scout Troop 236 is welcoming new members with an open house on Friday, September 17 at 7 p.m. at the ALC School at 120 Broadway here in Maybrook. Your child can start his or her Scouting Journey with community service and leadership experience.  Contact Bill Giannico at (845) 527-9333 (email Maybrook236@gmail.com) or Abby Williams at (845) 283-5084 for more information.

Is your child too young for Scouts? You can look into the Maybrook Cub Scout Pack 236, who will also be on hand at the Scout Open House for the Scouts or you can contact Bill Giannico at the number or email above.

I can’t praise the Scouts enough!  My son is an Eagle Scout from Troop 236 and he learned so much through the years with Pack and Troop 236.

Things are really starting to get back to our new normal.  The Maybrook VFW 2064 will be bringing back a couple of things.  One is the Annual Golf Outing on September 24 at the Stony Ford Golf Course.  Contact vfwpost2064golfouting@gmail.com for more information or to sponsor the Outing.  Please “Support the men and women of the Armed Forces who bravely have and are currently protecting our rights and freedoms for all throughout the world.”

The VFW is also bringing back their Monthly Breakfast starting October 3.  You can get a fresh made breakfast for $7 per person every 1st Sunday of the month.  You can get your eggs cooked just about any way you like them.  Or you can get pancakes or french toast.  Sides of bacon or sausage are available as well as Steve’s famous home fries!  YUMMY!

The Village of Maybrook Police Department along with Garnet Health is bringing back the Bike Rodeo on Saturday, September 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park by the Danny Meyer Playground.  You can register your child’s bike and maybe your child can win one!  There will be a bounce house and a Petting Zoo.  Your child can learn about safety and injury prevention. For those with young ones in car seats, you can get your car seat inspected for safety also.

For all of you like to go Yard/Garage Sale-ing, the Village will be sponsoring a Village Wide Yard sale on October 2 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The Village will do the advertising, you just put your stuff out and make some money.  If you need a space, the Maybrook Methodist Church is renting out spaces, contact Lori at (845) 452-4175. Cost is $15 for each space and the check can be mailed to:  Maybrook United Methodists at 313 Homestead Avenue, Maybrook, NY 12543 at least one week before the Yard sale.  Happy Selling And buying!!

Last, but certainly not least!  Go check out the new store down at the strip mall next to Whipped Cupcakes and Little Pops!  They had some cute clothes and accessories for your little ones. There’s also some stuff for adults, mostly new, but some used!  The new establishment is called the “Mystery Box” and it’s run by Shelley Santor and Ashley Pereia.  Wishing them lots of luck.

Heartfelt condolences to the family of Vaughn Moore who passed away on Saturday.
