Pine Bush girls second in Section 9 track

Madison Williams won three championships and Ella Galloway won two Section 9 Class A championships, leading the Pine Bush girls’ track and field team to a second-place finish with 110 points at the Section 9 Class A championships on Saturday at Goshen High School.

The boys’ team also placed four individual champions to finish second with 124.5 points. Monroe-Woodbury swept the boys’ and girls’ meets, while Valley Central was seventh in the boys’ meet with 37 points and fifth in the girls’ meet with 60 points.

Galloway and Williams each tied for the win in the high jump, reaching 5-0, while Williams won the long and triple jump with respective jumps of 18-7.75 and 40-7. Galloway won the pole vault, reaching 12-6 and was third in the long jump with a jump of 17-7.75. Nia Merritt was right behind her with a 17-4.5 to take third place. Nyla Blakes was third in the high jump, reaching 4-8.

The 1,600-meter relay team of Elysia Jackson, Sienna Hunter, Gianna Conklin and Shaylen Goslar picked up a victory in 4:10.77.

Shaylen Goslar was second in the 800-metre run in 2:15.48 and second in the 1,500-meter run in 4:48.40.

Sienna Hunter was third in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.99 and Elysia Jackson was fourth in 1:01.59.

Ky’ra Coley was sixth in the discus, reaching 82-5.

Ava Carsley won the 1,500-meter relay to lead Valley Central with a time of 4:44.08, and Sarah Del Pilar won the 3,000-meter run in 10:48.96.

The 3,200-meter and 400-meter relay teams finished second and third respectively.

Isabella Wade was third in the 100-meter dash in 12.74, and Catherine Primavera was second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.16.

Kaelyn Marcano was third in the discus with a throw of 93-5 and was sixth in the shot put by reaching 27-10.50. Angelina Vargas was fourth in the high jump, clearing 4-8.

Riley Conan was fifth in the triple jump, reaching 31-5.

JamesMichael Vizzari led the Pine Bush boys’ team with a first-place finish in the 800-meter run, Joshua Dymond won the discus with a throw of 133-11, and Alexander Kozlowski won the long jump with a jump of 20-5. Plexico Brooks and Aidan Steele were third and fourth with respective jumps of 19-10 and 19-9.

Elijah Cruz also won the shot put with a throw of 43-5.

Lavon James was second in the 200-meter dash in 22.69 and third in the 100-meter dash in 11.35. Nicholas Burgess was sixth in the 200 in 23.25.

Justin Scott was second in the triple jump, with Kozlowski and Steele taking third and fourth. Scott reached 41-9 while Kozlowski and Aidan Steele reached 40-10 and 40-7 respectively.

Nathan VonDeben was third in the pole vault, reaching 11-6.

Vizzari was fourth in the 400-meter dash in 50.14. Colby Zupetz was sixth in the 3,200-meter run in 10:26.75.

The 400-meter relay team was second in 43.88 and the 1,600- and 3,200-meter relay teams were each fourth with respective times of 3:26.30 and 8:42.03.

Derek Vincent won the triple jump, leading the Valley Central boys’ team. Vincent also was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.39. He reached 42-00 in the triple jump.

Azaziah Marshall was second in the 100-meter dash in 11.16.

Caleb Sahlstrom was fourth in the 300-meter steeplechase in 10:43.47.

The Vikings were third in the 400-meter relay in 43.98 and sixth in the 1,600-meter relay in 3:50.92.

Class B
The Wallkill girls’ team recorded two second-place finishes on their way to a seventh-place finish in the Class B meet with 27 points. Cornwall won the meet with 221 points.

The Panthers were ninth in the boys’ meet with 19 points, as Goshen took home the team title with 119.5 points.

Caitlyn Murphy was second in the 1,500-meter run, and Emma Dilemme took fourth with respective times of 4:53.51 and 5:16.84.

Araceli Ospina was second in the shot put with a throw of 31-2.5.

Lea Martini was fifth in the triple jump, reaching 32-8.5, and Amenya Brown was sixth in the discus with a throw of 80-1.

The Panthers’ 1,600-meter relay team was fourth in 4:24.75.

Jake Craypo finished second in the 1,600-meter run, leading the Wallkill boys’ team with a time of 4:37.21.

Finnian Reiter was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:02.48. Mason Birdsell was fifth in the triple jump, reaching 38-7, and sixth in the long jump, reaching 19-4.

The 1,600-meter relay team was fourth in 3:38.18.
