PB relay team 7th at Federation meet

The 200-yard medley relay team placed seventh, leading the Pine Bush Bushmen at the NYS Federation girls’ swimming and diving meet on Saturday at the Webster High School Aquatic Center.

The team of Maya Oakes, Ella Humphrey, Ashley Martin and Katie Webster finished the finals with a time of 1:50.04, nearly a second better than their preliminary time on Friday.

Webster finished tied for 16th in the 50-yard freestyle with Victor’s Margane Wethey with a time of 24.68. She finished the preliminaries with a swim of 24.59. Webster was 17th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.78.

Mackenzie Gula finished 18th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.07 seconds, and Martin was 31st with a preliminary time of 59.93, just missing Saturday’s finals. Humphrey was 19th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.80, and Gula was 25th in 1:09.55.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Webster, Martin, DeGeorge and Gula were 15th with a time of 3:43.98, and the 200-yard freestyle relay team of DeGeorge, Humphrey, Martin and Gula were 19th with a time of 1:43.90.

Sadie DeGeorge was 36th in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:13.19.

“This was the best overall team Pine Bush girls’ (swimming) has ever taken to states,” Pine Bush coach John Barth said. “Their success this year was a true testament to their hard work and commitment to excellence. The seniors are leaving a legacy of success that will always be remembered in Pine Bush.”
