PB boys and girls 3rd in Class A track

Both the Pine Bush boys’ and girls’ teams finished third at the Section 9 Class A championship meet Thursday at Goshen High School.

The boys’ team finished tied with the Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks with 73 points, while the girls’ team was third with 84 points. Monroe-Woodbury won both meets, while Valley Central was eighth in the boys’ meet and seventh in the girls’ meet with 41 and 30 points, respectively.

Pine Bush’s Madison Williams won both the long and triple jumps, reaching 17-2.5 and 36-2.25 respectively. Teammate Ella Galloway was third with a jump of 16-1.25 in the long jump and Nia Merritt and Mya Riquelme were second and fourth respectively, reaching 33-6 and 33-2.5.

Valley Central’s Bianca Staples had an epic battle on the high jump with Minisink Valley’s Ella Michelitch, although they were in different classes. They both finished with a height of 5-7, but Staples easily outdistanced her closest competition as Galloway was second with a jump of 4-10. Williams was third, also reaching 4-10 and Riquelme was fifth, reaching 4-6. Valley Central’s Angelina Vargas was sixth, also reaching 4-6.

Zoe Rodi won the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.03.

Valley Central’s Isabella wade was second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.94.

Pine Bush’s 1,600-meter relay team of Mackenzie Gula, Madeleine Cerone, Jada Falu and Zoe Rodi was second with a time of 4:14.67.

Hannah Pawlowski was fifth in the 2,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:15.18.

Galloway was fourth in the pole vault clearing 10-0.

The 3,200-meter relay team of Pawlowski, Marissa Albano, Alyssa Biondi and Jessica Horne was fifth with a time of 11:30.36.

Valley Central’s Laura Griffin was fifth in the 1,500-meter run in 5:20.92 and Catherine Primavera was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:09.61.

Wade was fifth in the long jump, reaching 15-8 and Riley Conan was sixth in the triple jump, reaching 31-11.25.

Staples, Conan, Primavera and Wade were fourth in the 400-meter dash in 51.52 and Sophie Carsley, Grace Burns, Primavera and Hailey Morrison were sixth in the 1,600-meter relay in 4:33.46.

Alexander Kozlowski led the Bushmen in the boys’ meet winning the triple jump in 40-11.5. Aidan Steele was fourth in 39-0.

Elijah Bellinger had a big day for Valley Central winning the 100- and 200-meter dashes with respective times of 11.38 and 22.85.

David Ramirez finished second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.07. He also was second in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.99.

The 3,200-meter relay team of Colin Best, Malakai Henry-Geraghty, Colby Zupetz and JamesMichael Vizzari was second in 8:30.53 and the 1,600-meter team of Jared Urena, Henry-Geraghty, Vizzari and Ramirez was fourth in 3:38.05.

Joshua Dymond and Stephen Gihr were third and fourth in the discus with respective throws of 117-5 and 113-00. Elijah Cruz was third in the shot put with Gihr taking fifth.

Jared Urena was third in the high jump, reaching 5-6.

Vizzari and Henry-Geraghty were fifth and sixth in the 800-meter run with respective times of 2:05.94 and 2:06.53. Zupetz was fifth in the 3,200-meter run in 10:18.68. Jake Schorling was fifth in the long jump, reaching 18-11.

Valley Central’s Devin Loprieno was third in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.23.

Azaziah Marshall was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 23.0 and fourth in the 400-meter dash in 51.55. Jude Remenar was right behind him in 53.12 for sixth place.

Caleb Sahlstrom was sixth in the 1,600-meter dash in 5:05.27 and Derek Vincent was sixth in the triple jump, reaching 37-7.

Valley Central also placed fifth in the 400- and 1,600-meter relays.
