Montgomery Village Museum now open on Saturdays

Congratulations to the new Village of Montgomery Mayor Mike Hembury, I was fortunate enough to run into him on a busy Sunday morning at Shop Rite. Its nice to have someone who is so approachable and willing to listen to comments and concerns about our area.

Mothers Day is fast approaching, Sunday May 12 to be exact. This is the perfect time to shop local for anything from plants and flowers to gift certificates to eateries and shops. Or do what I always ask for: take something off my to-do list: dig up the garden, wash the car, attend a movie or concert or clean something out!

Speaking of cleaning, the May Montgomery Yard Sale Day is the weekend after Mothers Day, on Saturday May 18.

The community sends a sincere thank you to the Walden Savings Bank, Calculated Confections of Walden, PBF Café and all the remarkable organizations who participated in the Bite Back Against Hunger event that benefited the Hudson Valley Food Bank on Thursday, April 25, at City Winery, Montgomery.

The Friends of Montgomery Library announce the Annual Spring Tea fundraiser will be held Sunday May 19 from 1- 3 p.m. at the Montgomery Senior Center. This years theme is April Showers Brought May Flowers. There will be a catered luncheon, raffle baskets, games, door prizes. The speaker is Rebecca Bulene on the Pollinated Garden, Butterfly Gardens. Tickets are $40 each and are available at the Montgomery Library or by mail to: Joan Buck Smith, 364 Goodwill Rd. Montgomery, NY 12549.

The Otterkill Animal Hospital will have a Spring Pet Adoption and Open House on Saturday, May 4.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. they will have Bleu’s K9 Rescue, Pets Alive, Humane Society of Walden and Helpers with Hearts with adoptable fur friends. There will be pet themed vendors, raffles, kids activities, pictures and tours. Anyone interested in a vendor spot email: mhowe@otterkill.com.

The final concert of the Grand Montgomery Chamber season is this coming Sunday, May 5 at 3 p.m. at the Garret Concert Stage at the Montgomery Senior Center.

Pianist Hollis Kellogg is the featured performer.

Admission is free.

A seminar: Move Better, Feel Better, Live Better: The Relationship Between Pain, Activity, and Balance with Dr. Lori Schneider, from ACCESSPT will be held at the Montgomery Senior Center on Thursday May 2 at 11:30.

Join in the fun at a Trivia Lunch on Thursday May 16 at 12 p.m. There will be Trivia ~ Pizza~ Prizes. Cost is $5.00 per person. Please call or stop in to sign up.

Upcoming: A two hour NYC lunch Sight Seeing Cruise, Thursday, July 18, 2024. The cost is $90 per person and the bus will leave Montgomery Senior Center at 9:30 a.m. For additional details, please call 845-457-9367

Take me out to the ball game! A trip to see the Yankee vs Mets game will be on Wednesday, July 23 for a 7 p.m. game. Ticket and transportation is only $100 per person.

Don your Sunday best to attend the Oktoberfest Wedding of Freida & Fritz. This trip is on Thursday, October 24 at the Riverview Inn and the cost is $50 per person.
