Jo Ann Bondi, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, at the age of 82.

Born on August 28, 1944, in Manhattan, Jo Ann grew up in the Bronx and attended Grace Dodge High School. She spent much of her life in Mahopac, New York, before relocating to Montgomery, New York, in 1999.

Family was at the heart of Jo Ann’s life. She was a devoted mother of six daughters—Lisa Murley (Kevin Murley), Gina Bondi (Tom Matthews), Caroline Almeida, Elizabeth Bondi (Rocco Ricciardi), Laura Bondi (Nicholas Kille), and Mary DePuy (Marc DePuy)—three sets of twins. Her daughters were her pride and joy.

She was also a proud grandmother to Jordan O’Brien, Kristal Olsen, Brooke Bondi, Dominick Almeida, Daniel Matthews, Andrew Matthews, Paul Almeida, Aidan Murley, William Matthews, Colin Murley, Tyler DePuy, and Gavin DePuy, and a loving great-grandmother to her great-grandchildren—Cameron, Analiyah, Julian, Amina and Ashton.

An avid cook, Jo Ann loved collecting recipes and cooking magazines. She found great joy in sharing meals with the people she loved. She cherished time with friends and every laugh-filled gathering with her cousins. Her lifelong love of food and people inspired her to become the owner of Carmela’s restaurant in Montgomery, New York, where she took great pride in crafting the menu and visiting with her patrons.

She will be remembered for her kindness, her humor, her love of family and friends, her cooking, and all the ordinary moments that were better simply because she was there.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
