Todd Blanche was recently confirmed as the US Attorney General by a vote of 50-49. Fifty GOP senators voted aye and all the Democrats plus two GOP senators, both women, Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, voted nay. Those fifty Republicans should hang their heads in shame. 

Todd Blanche has no business being America’s attorney general. Instead of an independent chief legal officer who will abide by the rule of law in serving the interests of justice for the American people, we have Trump’s bulldog, his personal attorney-henchman, who will serve the Maga, authoritarian interests of his boss. Look at what Blanche has done in the past. As the Deputy and Acting Attorney General, Todd Blanche has taken a knee in deference to Trump’s retribution crusade, seeking groundless indictments and filing meritless lawsuits against Trump’s political foes; taken a knee in deference to Trump’s political and business interests, signing off on Trump’s $1.776 billion dollar taxpayer-funded Maga slush fund for his allies including the J6 rioters, approving tax return immunity from audits of Trump and family businesses for all finances submitted to the IRS before May 19, 2026. Blanche has acted as Trump’s protector, shielding him from accountability in regard to the Epstein files; as protector, Blanche has been integral in the coverup by his ever -so grindingly slow public release of them. As you can plainly see under Blanche, the DOJ has become the weaponized arm of Trump, casting aside its once political independence. Under Blanche, corruption reigns and the DOJ is his legal cudgel.

In a recent ‘Raw Story’ article I came across comments made by the retired conservative federal judge, J. Michael Luttig, on the confirmation of Blanche as the new Attorney General. Clearly we are in agreement. The retired judge condemned his fellow conservatives in the GOP senate for voting ‘aye’ on his confirmation. The judge’s quote: “ Never before in American history has an attorney general been confirmed who was as corrupt as Todd Blanche. They will bear this badge of shame the rest of their lives. Footnote: The two Republican Senators, Collins and Murkowski, can stand tall walking the chamber halls on Capitol Hill for making the right and just decision on the Blanche confirmation !!!!
