Crawford cops serve cookies & milk

Tables stacked with donated non-perishable foods and collection boxes filled to the brim with donated toys – were the goals Santa, Police Officer Patrick Swayne, and all of the Crawford Police Department, Police Benevolent Association, and the Town of Crawford had in mind for this holiday event. Their goals appeared met, and children were happy to chat with the man in the red suit.

The combination food drive and Toys for Tots collection also offered the public a chance to have a cookie with Santa in the Crawford Senior & Community Center on Saturday, December 11.

“One of the great things about our community,” said Police Chief Dominick Blasko, “is they are very giving. Holding this event allowed us to put everything in one place.”

PBA President Daniel Boyd added, “We usually host a holiday luncheon for our Seniors (Citizens) at the Pine Bush Firehouse, but this year we are changing things a little and having a Senior Door Dash. We will be preparing the food on Tuesday at the Firehouse and then delivering them Wednesday to 150 Seniors.”

The lunches were successfully delivered last Wednesday, December 15 to many smiling faces.

“Also, the PBA and Police Department have adopted eight families, and we will be providing them with what they need for Christmas,” Boyd continued.

Chief Blasko added, “The PBA also has a gift card program to support and enhance the holiday season for local families through the Pine Bush Central School District’s program.”

Santa was happy to report all the nice children (no naughty ones in sight) he spoke with were asking for toys. Young toddlers, like brave Enzo Valastro and shy Lily DeVrees, also seemed to enjoy the event with more smiles than tears.
