Car show returns to Clinton Street this weekend

Come to the last of the summer concert series on September 25. Get your Polka shoes ready for Jimmy Sturr from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the gazebo. 

The St. Patrick’s Ramble Committee invites you to join them on Sept. 26 for a mass and cocktail reception honoring Grand Marshal Jack Smith. Mass is at 11:30 a.m. at the Holy Name of May Church. Reception is at 6:30 p.m. at The Table.
Tickets are required for the reception. They are $30 apiece and include a cash bar. They can be purchased at cfosny.fcsuite.com or you may contact Cathy at Devitt Management at (845) 457-9666.

It’s not too late to enjoy the bounty of the season at the  Montgomery Farmer’s Market. It is located at 110 Bracken Rd. from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Tuesday until September 28.   

The Orange County Office for the Aging and the Montgomery Senior Center will be offering Tai Chi classes.

They will be held at the Senior Center on 36 Bridge St. It is a free 8 week program held on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. starting Monday, September 20.To sign up for classes call Melanie Tanner, Tai Chi instructor at (845) 615-3736. After doing a little research I discovered that Tai Chi is a gentle way to fight stress and anxiety and also help increase flexibility and balance. We could all use that.

The Montgomery Senior Center in conjunction with Rite Aid Pharmacy is pleased to announce a parking lot flu shot clinic for Seniors scheduled for Wednesday, October 6 at 36 Bridge Street  between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.   

Seniors who would like to receive the flu shot are asked to call the Center by Friday, October 1 at (845) 457-9367 to reserve a spot. 

There is a limited quantity and Seniors must have a current insurance card (Medicare, etc).  Masks must be worn at all times.  

Become a better driver and save money.  On Thursday September 30,  10 a.m. - 4 p.m. there will be a Defensive Driving Certification Class.  Save 10% on your Auto Insurance and reduce up to 4 points on your Driver’s  License.  Cost is $25 per person.  Please call or stop in to sign up.

Mark you calendars for Thursday October 14 at 1 p.m. A free event,  “Hidden Treasures,” an interesting  presentation by Tony Musso will take place. All are welcome at the Montgomery Senior Center.

Wallkill River School of Art, located at 232 Ward St/ Rt 17 K in Montgomery  is where volunteer Repair Cafe experts will be on Sunday, September 26 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. to assist you. 

Small electrical appliances such as toasters, lamps, hair driers and also scissor sharpening and clothing and textiles will be  featured repairs at this event.

Repairs can save money and resources. A Repair Cafe may also show people how easy it can be (most times) to repair rather than discard damaged items. 

The Repair Cafe is also a way for neighbors to get together and discover practical skills that not only benefit the individual but bring the neighborhood together in a unique way.

Rev up your engines, the 2021 Clinton St. Car Show will take place on Sunday Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., all vehicles are welcome. To register call 457-9661 or events@villageofmontgomery.org. 

Our Montgomery Free Library’s new hours are: Monday through Friday 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. & 1 - 4 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month.

The last book I borrowed from them was “Crying in the H Mart” a true story. Not the happiest book I’ve read but it was hard to put down. 

The Pickle ball craze has really caught on, so much as there will be a Pickle ball Tournament, “The Copper Open,” on Saturday Oct. 9.  It will be at the Veterans Park Pickle ball Courts in Montgomery.  There will be prizes, the cost is $70 per team, all proceeds to benefit the St. Pat’s Ramble.
