SVFD Auxiliary presents a Penny Social
Get ready to join in the fun and generosity at the upcoming Penny Social, a fundraising event organized by the Ladies Auxiliary to support the Shawangunk Valley Volunteer Fire Company.

The event, slated for Friday, May 3, promises an evening packed with excitement and opportunities to win fantastic prizes. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. at the Shawangunk Valley Fire House, located at 2150 Bruynswick Road, Wallkill, with the festivities kicking off at 7 p.m.

For just $1, participants can grab a whopping 100 penny tickets, or opt for the higher stakes with blue tickets available at $5 for a sheet of 25 tickets, or pink tickets at $20 for a sheet of 25 tickets. Feeling lucky? Try your hand at the Dumpster Service Raffle tickets for $5 each, or test your odds with the 50/50 tickets, priced at $1 each or $5 for 6 tickets.

And for wine enthusiasts, the Pick a Cork Wines activity offers a chance to take home premium selections at $15 per cork.

Gardiner Gears Up for 13th Annual Riverkeeper Sweep
Environmental enthusiasts and community members are gearing up for the 13th Annual Riverkeeper Sweep, co-sponsored by Climate Smart Gardiner. Scheduled for Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., the event aims to mobilize volunteers for a collective effort to clean up the local waterways and surrounding areas.

Participants have two options for participation: the Land Sweep or the Water Sweep. For the Land Sweep, volunteers will convene at Gardiner Park Parking Lot (Transfer Station), located at 131 Steves Lane, Gardiner. Meanwhile, those joining the Water Sweep will meet at the Boat Launch Parking Lot on 209 Farmer’s Turnpike, Gardiner.

Volunteers for the Land Sweep are advised to come prepared with work boots, work gloves, tick and sun protection, water, and a snack. On the other hand, participants in the Water Sweep are required to bring a canoe, rowboat, or kayak, with adequate space for collecting trash. Organizers emphasize that only experienced paddlers should participate in the Water Sweep.

MPB hosts Bingo event
Prepare for an evening of fun and fortune at the Spring Bingo event, hosted by the MPB Parent Guild. Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 4, and head to the MPB School gym located at 180 Ulster Avenue, Walden.

Admission to this thrilling affair is $20 in advance or $30 at the door, which includes a bundle of bingo games and a coveted door prize ticket. Doors open at 5 p.m. Calling begins at 6 p.m.

Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA Welcome New Members
Excitement is building in the Wallkill School District as Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA gear up to welcome new members from grades K-5 and ages 10½-17 respectively.

An upcoming New Member Info Session is set to kick off on Saturday, May 11, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Modena Methodist Church located at 1928 Route 44/55, Modena

The event promises an action-packed day filled with outdoor activities, learning opportunities, and of course, fun. Boys and girls interested in trying new things, learning life skills and becoming good citizens are encouraged to attend.

Newly registered Cub Scouts attending the event will receive a free fishing pole, adding an extra incentive for youngsters to join in the adventure.

For those aged 10½ to 17, Scouts BSA Troop 195, based in Modena, is ready to welcome new members to serve the Wallkill School District and surrounding areas.
