On May 16, Orange County Assistant District Attorney Darlene De Jesus-Rosenwasser, the Chief of the Office’s Community Affairs Unit, was named the incoming President of the Orange County Bar Association. The organization’s fundamental mission is to help lawyers help people by promoting high standards of learning, professional skill, ethics, and public service. The Association also seeks to provide a forum for the discussion of subjects pertaining to the practice of law, the science of jurisprudence and law reform. Further, the Association promotes continuing legal education, offers a referral service and provides resources for legal services to the indigent.

The swearing-in ceremony featured a keynote address by Judge Lourdes Ventura, Associate Justice, New York State Appellate Division, Second Department who offered her support and con-gratulations to ADA De Jesus-Rosenwasser. The Association was also virtually addressed by New York State Attorney General Leticia James who said “the success of your incoming President Darlene De Jesus-Rosenwasser is a fine example of [your] proud tradition. A first genera-tion Dominican American, former legal intern in my office, and now a prosecutor in this county. Her success and career trajectory personify the commendable work of the Orange County Bar Association.”

“The Orange County Bar Association will be well served by the Presidency of Darlene De Jesus-Rosenwasser,” said District Attorney David M. Hoovler. “Her nomination reflects the integral importance of prosecutors in our legal community. Her keen knowledge, coupled with her expe-rience interacting with lawyers, judges and members of the community will promote the laudable goals of the Association. I wish her well in her new role.”
