Town declares lead agency intent for Windsor Highway rezoning

Posted

The New Windsor Town Board declared its intent to serve as lead agency pursuant to the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) and scheduled a public hearing to receive public comments for a rezoning amendment. A public hearing is to be held on February 1 at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.

AMERCO Real Estate Co. is the current owner of the property located along Windsor Highway, totaling 3.7 acres. The properties are zoned as highway commercial and multiple-family residential.

The intent of AMERCO is to rezone the entire property and have it recognized as highway commercial. The applicant has submitted documents to the town which have been under review prior to the motion. Circulation for lead agency will now be undertaken by the town attorney and the Orange County Planning Department and the New Windsor Planning Board will be forwarded the proposed Local Law and Short Environmental Assessment Form for their future review.
