Huskies top Millbrook
Leland Dubois threw five innings with five strikeouts, and James Gescheidle had a hit and two runs scored and three stolen bases, leading the Highland baseball team to a 9-6 win over the Millbrook Blazers on Wednesday at Highland High School.
Bradley Gatto had a double and three RBIs.
The Huskies opened the week with a 23-2 route of the Ellenville Blue Devils on April 9.
Gatto tripled, hit a three-run home run, and scored two runs. Gescheidle and Dubois each tripled and drove in two runs.
Hunter Tomlin got the win with five strikeouts, allowing only one hit for the Huskies (2-1, 2-0 MHAL)
Dukes edge Hughes 6-5
Carter Rivieccio hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning, lifting the Marlboro Iron Dukes to a 6-5 Mid Hudson Athletic League Division II win over the New Paltz Huguenots on Wednesday at Marlboro High School.
John Ryder doubled twice and singled, while Tyson Fernandez doubled twice, singled and drove in a run. Cooper Vogel doubled and had an RBI and Justin Piscopo drove in a run.
Miles Brooks got the win on the mound.
The Iron Dukes (4-0, 2-0 MHAL) opened the week with a 10-0 win over the Red Hook Raiders on April 8.
Fernandez and Brooks combined on a four-hit shutout while Ryder homered, singled and drove in three runs. Casey Vogel had two hits and two RBIs, while Tommy Benfer doubled, singled and drove in two runs. Chris DeNatale and Tyson Fernandez had two hits each. Matt Ciarimboli drove in a run.
Panthers rip Sawyers, rally past Dragons
Kyle DeGroat had two hits and four RBIs, leading the Wallkill Panthers to a 15-5 win over the Saugerties Sawyer in a Mid Hudson Athletic League Division I baseball game on Wednesday at Wallkill High School.
Chris Wager added two hits and an RBI and Mason Franklin doubled and drove in two runs. Spencer Freer singled, drove in two runs and scored three times. Niko Mandich had a hit and two runs scored, while Kody Best singled and drove in three runs.
Ryan Mayer got the win with 3 2/3 innings in relief, allowing three runs on three hits with eight strikeouts.
The Panthers opened the week with a 5-4 non-league win over Cornwall on April 9.
Franklin threw three innings in relief, allowing one hit with four strikeouts. He also walked twice and scored the game-winning run.
DeGroat had two hits, an RBI and a run scored, while Mike Daley had an RBI. Wager hit the game-tying sacrifice fly in the seventh inning, while Mandich had the game-winning RBI.
The Panthers trailed 4-0 in the bottom of the fifth and scored three runs.
Richie Roohan homered, doubled, singled and drove in three runs.
Panthers top O’Neill, 14-4
The Wallkill Panthers got goals from eight different scorers in a 14-4 win over the James I. O’Neill Raiders in a non-league boys’ lacrosse game on April 9 at Wallkill High School.
Johnny Canavan led the Panthers (2-2) with four goals and three assists, while Sean Petricek added four goals. Brent DeCoeur had a goal and two assists. Ian Rodriguez and Will Jablesnick each had one goal and one assist. Connor
Maruca, Joey Price and Alex DeCastro had one goal each.
Chris McNair and Nolan Turner combined for six saves.
